I’ve been the proud owner of an iPhone 13 Pro for a week now. It has been a while that I bought the latest iPhone when it came out. My 6s was the last one. So when I bought the 8 Plus, it was already 2-3 generations old.

The much-improved battery life (compared to my 8 Plus) and the camera setup attracted me to the new iPhone. In addition, the built-in macro mode looked interesting when I saw the introduction. Having 3 lenses also means that I don’t feel the need to buy a set of add-on lenses, which are nice but never at hand when needed. That’s, of course, my personal experience.

The other day I took some close-up shots from flowers around me, and I have to say it was fun. While some shots came out blurry, the majority turned out to be nice, at least when it came to sharpness. Composition is another story.

This photo shows a geranium blossom. The camera can focus down to 2 cm, which is very close. However, it can be tricky to avoid creating shadows with the phone since there is hardly any distance between the lens and the object.

I didn’t do much in the post-processing department. Besides cropping, the image is more or less as it came out of the phone. I used the native camera app and ProRAW.
