It seems that the year 2024 went by quickly. I can’t believe it is already the end of December. Christmas and Hannukah are tomorrow.
I thought it would be nice to put together one image each from the 4 seasons at the end of the year. The photos below are the ones that I still like a lot. Sometimes, I love an image, and the love fades when I look at it later. These four stayed up there. They also depict the respective season nicely. The photo in the hero section was taken in the early days of fall.
Winter 2024
The image above in the header is my pick for Winter. We had a bit of snow in January, just enough to bring some joy to the dogs and allow me to get a couple of photos with snow. I do like this image. It is the texture and color. This lock can be annoying. Depending on the weather and humidity, it opens and closes quickly, or you must put a hammer on it.
The Domiplan is an “entry drug” for Trioplan lenses if that’s your thing. You get the bubbles in the right circumstances, and it is less expensive than its more famous siblings.
Spring 2024

Fujifilm X-E3 | Auto Sears (Tomioka) (1.4/55mm) | 55mm (75mm) | 1/1700 sec | ISO 400
Spring is a wonderful season. Everything comes to life again. The colors are so amazing after the long winter months. This photo is of a Japanese Crap Apple. The smell of the blossoms is wonderful; it is so sweet. The fruit in the fall will be tiny and not for consumption; however, my dogs like them. We have to avoid these trees in the fall.
The Auto Sears lens is a fun one. It has an interesting bokeh. It’s bubbly, but it can be swirly, even wild.
Summer 2024

Fujifilm X-T1 | Helios-44 (13 Blades) (2/58mm) | 58mm (87mm) | 1/100 sec | ISO 400
Summers are rather hot and humid in my neck of the woods. And with hot, I mean high nineties at 85%+ humidity. Any kind of shade is welcome. I was having a nice walk in a nearby park and was looking for “Gossamer.” I couldn’t get it out of my mind and found it :-).
I was using my beloved Helios-44 during this walk. This is a dream vintage lens for me.
Fall 2024

Fujifilm X-T5 | Industar-50 50mm f/3.5 Collapsible | 50mm (75mm) | 1/350 sec | ISO 125
Fall is yet another incredibly photographic season. I love it. The area around the Lincoln Memorial is wonderful; there are so many things to see and photograph.
The lens here is the small rangefinder Industar-50, the collapsible one. I attached it a bit differently. Instead of just an M39 to FX adapter, I used an M39 to M42 ring and then an M42 to FX adapter. I focused by moving the lens barrel directly. This allows me to get the MFD closer than one meter.
